CASEY police have been inundated with local reports of scammers pretending to be from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
Police are warning that these calls are a “scam” and should be reported to Scam Watch.
The callers may ask for money or vouchers for payment of a fine and threaten to arrest or deport people for non-compliance.
Casey officers have advised anyone who receives a call from the ATO to disregard the requested action from the caller.
