AUSTRALIAN Lions Clubs are on a mission to aid 100 projects in 100 communities and Cranbourne is one of those taking part.
Lions Clubs across the nation have donated $1000 to the project, a part of their centenary celebrations and Cranbourne’s program chairman Greg Leonard urged all local community groups to apply for the grant.
“Lions Australia has more than $100,000 in grants to support local community projects in the areas of youth, hunger, environment and vision,” Mr Leonard said.
“We want to get the word out so worthy organisations have the chance to apply for a grant of $1000.”
Lions Australia executive officer Rob Oerlemans said the ‘Community 100’ program will provide local Lions clubs with the opportunity to reach out to communities and create new partnerships.
“If you can think of a community need, the chances are there’s a Lions club doing something about it,” Mr Oerlemans said.
Three Cranbourne organisations will be shortlisted by the Cranbourne Lions committee and the recipient will be chosen by Lions Australia.
The ‘Community 100’ program is now open for submissions and will be until Thursday 30 June.
