Electricity bills savings offer

CRANBOURNE residents have until 24 April to join the Cranbourne Solar Neighbourhood for discounted solar panel installations.
Householders who earn less than $100,000 and live within 10 kilometres of Cranbourne are eligible for the Federal Government rebate.
About 40 people attended the launch of the Cranbourne Solar Neighbourhood at the Balla Balla Centre on 3 April. Provided 50 residents take up the offer, home owners can have a 1kv panel system for $1895.
Co-ordinator of the Cranbourne Solar Neighbourhood, Rob Campbell, said he encouraged others to join before the rebate ended on 30 June.
“With the new feed-in tariff, home owners will be making a profit off their panels within six to seven years,” Mr Campbell said.
“Residents will save about $250 off their electricity bills each year, and the installation will immediately add about $13,000 to the value of their home…this is an opportunity not to be missed.”
The Cranbourne Solar Neighbourhood was initiated in response to the success of the Berwick and Pakenham solar neighbourhoods. Casey councillor Lorraine Wreford is supporting the initiative, which will be implemented in conjunction with private company Rezeko.
