CHILDREN and parents are invited to a fun-filled occasion to learn more about playgroups at City of Casey’s PlayDaze event on Friday 3 April.
The PlayDaze event is aimed to allow children, parents and carers to learn more about playgroups, said City of Casey manager children’s services Colette McMahon.
“The event will give Casey families the opportunity to explore positive play experiences for children and learn about the importance of play in childhood development,” Ms McMahon said.
“Playgroups are an important step in childhood development and this event will give carers the opportunity to see how beneficial playgroup can be for their child.”
The event will showcase a range of activities aimed to stimulate imaginative play, using affordable and practical ideas that can be used at home or at a playgroup, Ms McMahon said.
“Children will be invited to enjoy activities with lots of natural, recyclable and inexpensive materials to create play experiences that are sensory and open-ended,” she said.
Storytelling sessions, a puppet theatre, gardening play and bush animal display will be featured at PlayDaze.
Council officers, early childhood professionals and agencies will be in attendance to provide advice and ideas to try at home.
The event is free for children aged up to five years and will be held at the Balla Balla Centre, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East from 10 am until 12 noon.
