JASON White has already started growing his hair and beard in preparation for next year’s World’s Greatest Shave.
The cleaner at Centro Shopping Centre in Cranbourne had his head and beard shaved during the annual event at the centre on Friday.
Mr White, 35, has worked at Centro for about seven years and said it was the first time he has had his head shaved.
“I started growing my hair and I wasn’t really thinking about it until someone mentioned it to me. It was good fun and I’ve started growing it for next year,” he said.
Head of security at the centre, Charlie Crellin, did the honours on Friday.
“Charlie and I started working here at almost the same time and we are both part of the furniture. He shaved his head a couple of years ago and he said ‘let me shave yours’.”
Mr White said some customers took part in the shave, and some coloured their hair.
“It is all worthwhile for a good cause.”
All money raised from the World’s Greatest Shave goes to the Leukaemia Foundation, which aims to raise money for the cure of blood disorders and the care of people who have them.
