THE Cranbourne Fire Brigade will welcome two freshly trained recruits ahead of this year’s fire season.
Twenty-nine men and women graduated from the 19-week training course at the Victorian Emergency Management Training College at Craigieburn on Sunday 6 December.
Cranbourne is among 11 other rapidly growing stations in outer Melbourne to receive the recent graduates.
The firefighters will start placement at their nominated stations next week and CFA chief officer Joe Buffone said this would allow them to hit the ground running.
“From next week onwards, they will be combining plenty of on-the-job training with the regular firefighting duties,” he said.
“During the last 19 weeks, these recruits have tackled everything from school education to driver training and dealing with hazardous materials incidents.”
Over the past five years, the CFA has added an extra 407 career firefighters and officers to its network of stations primarily located in high-growth areas.
The CFA will be recruiting for new firefighters from March next year, for more information visit cfa.vic.gov.au.
