FEDERAL Holt MP Anthony Byrne has been promoted to the role of Parliamentary Secretary for Trade.
Mr Byrne was sworn in by the Governor General, Quentin Bryce, in Canberra on 25 February.
Mr Byrne said the trade portfolio was an important role in assisting businesses with export opportunities to support Australian jobs, particularly during the current financial climate.
The role will be in addition to his duties as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.
“Mr Byrne’s additional responsibilities are a reflection of the significant contribution he has made to the government in his current role,” Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said.
