TWO hardware giants are now competing for business at Cranbourne Home.
The centre on Saturday 10 October officially opened a $40 million expansion that included Masters Home Improvement.
It joined rival Bunnings in the Springhill Drive-Thompsons Road precinct – the first time in Australia they’ve traded within the same centre.
Aventus Property CEO Darren Holland said not only could the two co-exist, the arrangement would benefit shoppers.
“Two homewares giants competing will make renovating in this area more affordable,” he said.
The new Masters store will create 130 jobs.
Cranbourne Home will next year add another 7000 square metres of large-format retail showrooms and a freestanding pad site.
Aventus bought Cranbourne Home in 2004 and has doubled its size over the past 10 years.
It started as a joint venture between local residents and long-term friends John Dunscombe and Brett Blundy.
Mr Blundy grew up on a farm in Clyde and opened his first retail store in Pakenham in 1980. Disco Duck was to become music chain Sanity.
