Traders pitch in

By Bridget Brady
CRANBOURNE traders joined forces last week to support those affected by the devastating bushfires.
Businesses from the Cranbourne Homemaker Centre donated a car full of goodies from their stores and delivered them to the Diamond Creek Community Centre.
Betta Electrical staff member Brett Robb arrived at work last Thursday and decided he wanted to make a difference.
“I was listening to the radio and heard they needed pots and pans and things like that so I thought I would be pro-active and do something,” Mr Robb said.
“After we collected a heap of stuff from our store I decided run around to some of the other stores and ask them to donate supplies.”
Within two hours Mr Robb had a car full of brand new products, and his boss gave him the all clear to head to Whittlesea and deliver them that morning.
“It is a credit to the Cranbourne traders how everyone offered their support.
“The way the human spirit comes together is absolutely awesome.”
It was pleasing to see all of the traders from the Homemaker Centre come together for a good cause, Mr Robb said.
Some of the traders that donated goods included Lombard Paper People, Total Tools, Baby Essentials, Godfreys and Office Works. Mr Robb said many other stores had already organised their own fundraising, but still contributed to his mission.
“It just goes to show that the individual Joe Blow off the street can do amazing things if he is inspired to.”
