Prizes galore at cup carnival

A CRANBOURNE classic ‘your cup’ is back in town this October.
Days of action-packed racing, entertainment for the whole family, giveaways and fashions on the field are all planned for the upcoming TAB Cranbourne Cup Carnival.
Gearing up to host one of the biggest sporting and social events on the Casey calendar, the Cranbourne Turf Club is encouraging the whole community to join in.
Cranbourne Turf Club CEO Neil Bainbridge said the TAB Cranbourne Cup Carnival was shaping up to be one of their biggest and best carnivals yet.
“Cup day really does offer something for everyone from racing fanatics to those who just want a fun day out, with plenty of action on and off the track to keep patrons young and old entertained,” Mr Bainbridge said.
Cranbourne’s cup carnival will kick off with night racing for the Pinker Pinker Plate on Friday 9 October, before Cup Day on Sunday 11 October.
Boasting a 10-race program headlined by the feature $300,000 TAB Cranbourne Cup and the $100,000 Procon Developments Apache Cat Classic, the day also brings out some style with fashions on the field.
This year the Cranbourne fashions on the field present $5000 worth of prizes across three categories and for the first time the Turf Club has teamed up with Cranbourne Hyundai to giveaway a $31,500 Hyundai Tuscon Active on Cup day.
Mr Bainbridge said the carnival had cemented itself as one of the great country events during the Spring Racing Carnival.
“From a racing perspective, we’ve got a much larger prize purse than ever before for the TAB Cranbourne Cup and a $1 million bonus on offer for potential Cox Plate contenders, so the feature race is sure to attract a top class field.
“This is your cup and your celebration, and if you haven’t already, I encourage you to book your tickets now to join in the action of the TAB Cranbourne Cup,” he said.
