LYNDHURST Secondary College has announced the four students who will lead the school for 2009.
Joanne Santos and Brian Hepburn were appointed school captains, and Brodie Anderson and Brendan the vice-captains.
Joanne has an interest in music, enjoys the beach, shopping and her mum’s cooking.
She said she took on the role of school captain as she considered all students were equals and had a right to their own opinions.
“I am prepared to take on those opinions of students and put them into practice.” After completing her VCE Joanne hopes to be accepted into a legal course at university.
Brian Hepburn said he applied for school captain as he wanted to make his last year of high school one to remember.
“To have the high expectation and trust teachers give me has matured me as a student and a person,” he said.
Brian hopes to pursue a career in the engineering industry after school.
Brodie said she appreciated that students and teachers had given her the opportunity to be a college leader.
She enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, reading and going to the beach.
She wants to get into Monash University next year to study journalism.
Brendan said he kept himself motivated by inspiring himself, through achieving his goals and helping others.
Brendan is currently studying at the Australian Air League in hope that he will be accepted into the Air Force to become a commercial pilot.
He said a thought that inspired him was ‘don’t let failure go to your heart and don’t let success go to your head.’
