Citizens welcomed

MORE than 100 Casey residents can now officially call Australia home after a citizenship ceremony in Cranbourne on Monday.
Some 130 people from Casey, including 30 children, became Australian citizens at the Cranbourne Community Theatre on Australia Day.
City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said it was wonderful to see the new faces of Australia at the ceremony.
“Your heritage enriches all of us,” Cr Ablett said.
“We respect and accept your cultural differences and congratulate and thank you.”
On her birthday, Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said her great-great grandfather arrived in Australia in search of gold.
“He did not find much (gold) but what he did find was something of greater worth – our values,” Ms Graley said.
“I wish you all happiness, peace and prosperity.”
Ms Graley said she encouraged the new Australian citizens to become involved in their communities.
