POLICE have seized more than $100,000 worth of property stolen from houses under construction in Cranbourne.
Detectives found the stolen items and arrested a man after raiding a Cranbourne home in Thomas Crescent about 9.30am on Tuesday 4 August, where they also found a hydroponic set-up in a back shed.
The man was charged with 29 offences and remanded in custody.
Among the allegedly stolen items – all taken within the last year from houses being built – were ovens, doors, windows, tools, baths, taps and sinks.
Senior Constable Sri Chinnaiyan said thefts from houses under construction were a “state-wide issue”, with builders and developers becoming “easy targets.”
“Especially when the whole street is under construction and there’s no residents currently living in the houses,” he said.
