Saddle up for rodeo

By Lia Bichel
RODEO fans are gearing up for a night of thrills and spills at the Tenth Annual Cranbourne Rodeo on 30 and 31 of January.
The night, at Ballarto Road, Clyde, will include rodeo competitions, extreme motorcycle stunt riders, live musical entertainment and children’s rides.
Rodeo committee member Shawn Mathrick said the event’s activities appealed to people of all ages.
“It’s just a great family event,” he said. “We will have children’s activities, a bar, live music including the Blackhill Ramblers, and a huge firework display.”
Mr Mathrick said the Cranbourne rodeo has always attracted a large crowd, and more than 8000 people enjoyed the event last year. He said the number of people who attend and the number of participants increased every year.
“We haven’t counted yet, but it looks like we will have a lot more entries than last year,” he said.
“People come from Darwin, Western Australia and all over to participate. It just keeps getting bigger and better. I just hope everyone can get out here and have fun.”
Doors will open at 4.30pm on Friday, and events will kick off at 6.30pm.
Tickets are $20 for an adult, $10 for children under 15 and age pensioners, and $50 for a family (two adults, two children).
