Man bashed in

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault at the weekend that left a Hampton Park man in hospital with serious facial injuries.
The 33-year-old was walking along the Hampton Park wetlands area behind Gandin Crescent when he was bashed between 11pm and midnight on 10 January, police said.
Senior Detective Mark Wiederhold said the man was near a footbridge when he was attacked by a man not known to him. He was punched in the head, left unconscious and lost his mobile phone. He was taken to Dandenong Hospital.
Sen Det Wiederhold said the attacker was described as being of Islander descent, between 16 and 18 years of age, and with a solid build.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Sen Det Wiederhold at Casey CIU (Cranbourne) on 5991 0667.
