FRESH, flown in crayfish will now be on the menu at Channel Nine when Tooradin’s own Wings and Fins Restaurant takes to the small screen for The Hotplate.
Among five other restaurants from across Australia, owner Nols and chef and manager Lozz will be judged by chef Scott Pickett and restaurant critic Tom Parker Bowles – along with their toughest critics, their fellow competitors.
Up for grabs is a whopping $100,000 in prize-money – and local restaurateurs Lozz and Nols will be up against restaurants from Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.
The unique seafood restaurant located at Tooradin Airport has one big advantage – the Flinders Island crayfish is flown right to their door step.
A Channel Nine spokesperson said Lozz, 27, is extremely competitive and mature which is evened out by Nols, 54.
“Lozz and Nols have developed a close friendship over the four years they have been working together … and get on like a house on fire despite the age gap,” the spokesperson said.
The worst performing teams will face elimination, and the remaining pairs will fight it out – leading their staff in catering for a full restaurant to win the prize and crown of Australia’s best.
