TRIOS Tabaret in Cranbourne has won the title as the state’s best gaming venue with 50-plus machines at last week’s Clubs Victoria Achievement Awards.
The awards, which celebrate the achievements of not-for-profit clubs, were held at the Palladium at Crown on 30 November.
Trios Tabaret manager Brian Asley said the award was particularly special because this year two categories were merged into the one award – best Tattersall’s and best Tabaret venue.
This was the third time the venue had earned the title, previously winning in 2003 and 2006.
“It’s always good to see such great results,” Mr Asley said.
“Because it (the award) included two categories there were a huge amount of clubs to choose from.
“The club is good for Cranbourne because we’re community-based so we encourage locals to support us and come down and see what all the hoo-ha is about.”
Clubs Victoria also inducted Trios Tabaret into the association’s hall of fame for winning Best Racing Club Venue for three consecutive years, in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Trios Tabaret was named a finalist in four of the 27 awards.
“Next year we want to take out the best bistro. We were finalists this year and are working to do our best to win the award.”
Clubs Victoria president Johnnie Walker said the clubs were the heart of local communities.
“These awards celebrate the excellence and outstanding contributions of both the individual and club as a whole,” Mr Walker said.
