THE duplication of the main arterial that connects Cranbourne to Frankston is almost complete.
The $11.4 million duplication of Cranbourne-Frankston Road, between Centre Road and Western Port Highway, was completed last week.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said the duplication finished months ahead of schedule, and signalled a boost for transport infrastructure in the area.
“This road is a vital route between the activities centres of Cranbourne and Frankston,” Mr Perera said.
“About 20,000 vehicles travel along this road every day. This widening project will help these motorists travel to their destinations more efficiently.”
On-road bicycle lanes have been added to the road, as well as indented bus stops and right-turn lanes in the centre median into local streets.
The final stage of the project, which is due to start in the coming months, will connect Cranbourne-Frankston Road to the upcoming duplication between Brookland Greens Boulevard and Western Port Highway.
