What will SEFNL become?

By DAVID NAGEL

SOUTH East Football Netball League Operations Manager Liz Triffitt has a simple way of describing just how important this Sunday’s Strategic Planning Day is for the clubs that call SEFNL home.
“The clubs started this journey… so far they have sketched the outline and now they get to choose the colours and determine what SEFNL will become,” Triffitt said.
The board, and clubs of SEFNL are about to embark on the single most pivotal moment in their history.
The newly appointed board has undertaken two workshops, which have set the ground rules of how they will work together.
The clubs get their say this Sunday 21 June, at Casey Fields, in workshops facilitated by Brendan Mason, from Same Page Cultures.
Mason has worked with Carlton FC, AFL Umpiring Department, AFL, AFL Vic, community sporting clubs, councils, state sporting associations to name a few and is well qualified to lead SEFNL through its journey.
The joint workshops will determine the future direction of SEFNL.
With all the talk around the traps has centred on the prospect of divisional football, Triffitt was keen to put the record straight.
“We need to get our own backyard right before we start looking over the fence,” she said.
“This Sunday is about doing that, getting the clubs aligning with SEFNL to determine the future direction of the league.
“If divisional football is to come about, clubs need to come to us, and, despite what you might here, there has been no contact to date.”
The SEFNL board has invited representatives from the City of Casey, Shire of Cardinia, the SEJ board, all senior football and netball clubs, umpire groups and local media to be a part of Sunday’s workshop.
