Casey gives until it’s green

RESIDENTS can grab a free plant thanks to Casey’s annual plant give-away.
Each household can claim two free indigenous plants for their garden.
Visit the council’s pop-up stalls at Westfield Fountain Gate, Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre and Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre at designated times on Thursday 21, Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May to collect plants.
City of Casey mayor Mick Morland encouraged residents to make the most of the give-away and help the council create a greener city.
“The council-funded plant give-away is part of the Growing a Green Web program, which aims to revegetate open spaces in Casey and encourage the community to join in environmental enhancement work,” Cr Morland said.
“Over three days, the council hopes to give away 10,000 indigenous plants as part of its work to link corridors of indigenous vegetation to form a green network across the municipality.
“There will be a great variety of plants available to suit a range of gardens including trees, shrubs, ground covers, wildflowers and grasses.”
To claim two free plants, proof of Casey residency such as a driver’s licence or council rates notice is required.
