Parking permit scheme soon

By Kelly Yates
A PARKING permit scheme will be implemented in Cranbourne North near the Merinda Park Railway Station.
The issue, which was discussed at Tuesday night’s council meeting, follows the amount of on-street parking being taken up by early commuters, affecting residents of properties located close to the station.
Council officers said the parking restrictions would provide a balance in on-street parking and also improve access for visitors during the day.
Adequate signage will be provided to indicate which areas are restricted.
Council will also write to the Minister of Public Transport Lynne Kosky in an effort to allocate funds to increase the amount of car parking at the station.
City of Casey Cr Steve Beardon said he would expect the parking permit system to be implemented in Cranbourne North before Christmas.
