WITH a childhood spent around Holden cars, it was only natural that Mario Vella would have one of his own some day.
His dream car for many years was a black and white Holden 1974 Torana Slr 500, and now he proudly owns one.
Mr Vella said he bought the car privately and had entirely restored it.
“I restored it to its original state, and back to its original era,” he said.
He said this car inspired him to become part of a number of car clubs and would proudly display his pride and joy at the Dandenong Valley All Holden Car Show this weekend.
Mr Vella purchased the car in 2010 and said he saw that it “had potential.”
“The car caught my eye straight away as I saw that with a bit of work this car could go back to its original looks again,” he said.
He said this car was his main project for around two years, and lots of “time and effort, not to mention money” was put in to get it to where it was now.
Mr Vella said the car had visited many shows and without being biased, thought it was the best looking car.
“It’s in immaculate condition inside and out,” he said.
