ONE hundred down, a few thousand to go.
Prep students at Tooradin Primary School still have 12 years of education ahead, but that didn’t stop the class of 2008 from celebrating its first century in style. The 41 pint-size students collected 100 favourite things and displayed them on Friday 1 August, the halfway mark of the school year.
Collections included Smarties, toothpicks, icy-pole sticks, pasta and buttons.
Prep teachers Rachel Davis and Kristie Young said students spoke of their collections, made party hats and inflated 100 balloons. Ms Davis said it was joy to watch the young students grow and happily celebrate their first year of school.
One boy had such a good time he made a remarkable confession to his teacher.
“This is the most exciting day of my life,” he declared.
With thousands more school days on the calendar, the century celebration will be a top shelf memory for years to come.
