A SHATTERED grandfather and former highway patrol officer issued a timely warning to young drivers following an accident which left his young granddaughter fighting for her life.
Four teenagers were involved in an accident on 5 June 2014 which left 19-year-old Danica Pringle in a critical condition.
In the aftermath of the accident, the young girl’s grandfather Bob Pringle spoke out and said the tragedy had devastated the family but hoped that the crash would remind people to take as much care as they could on the roads.
He urged motorists to stop and think when they get behind the wheel in the hope that it would prevent another incident such as the one his granddaughter was involved in.
Police said a Holden Commodore and a Ford Falcon were travelling side by side in the south bound lanes of the South Gippsland Highway before the crash occurred.
Danica was the passenger in the Ford when both cars ran off the roadway, mounted the centre median strip and collided with a concrete pole, police said.
