Hampton courts bounce back

HAMPTON Park Tennis Club celebrated the opening of its two synthetic clay courts with two strong home wins last weekend.
The drought-proof courts, funded by the City of Casey, will be playable all year round and have won the approval of members, according to club secretary Elisabeth Drew.
“We started using them last week and the members love them,” she said.
“They provide good bounce and are low maintenance.”
Hampton Park Tennis Club converted two of its six existing red porous courts to the clay synthetic surface.
The courts look the same, but are constructed using an asphalt base with a carpet type surface, and are then packed with sand.
Ms Drew said the junior teams celebrated the opening of the courts with strong wins.
“We had two teams playing at home and they won, it was a good start,” she said.
“The courts drain very well, so during winter they can be played on even after a downpour of rain.”
Hampton Park Tennis Club has 10 junior teams and six senior teams.
The club is located on Somerville Road.
