NOMINATIONS are now open for the National Day for Older Australians awards.
Flinders MP Greg Hunt said the awards recognised the work of individuals or groups of senior people as part of National Day for Older Australians celebrations.
He said there was a new closing date for nominations on Friday, 11 November.
“National Day for Older Australians is an excellent opportunity to recognise the contributions made by many senior people to the local community and to their families, to enhance people’s attitudes towards older Australians and to encourage participation by older Australians in community activities,” he said.
“There are many people who quietly contribute to their community.”
The achievements of older people will be acknowledged through Certificates of Recognition to be presented at a special ceremony.
“This program offers us all a chance to say thank you for their energy and their commitment to our community and remind us of the positive benefits ageing can bring,” Mr Hunt said. To nominate an individual or group contact Mr Hunt on 5979 3188.
