A NUMBER of community organisations will jump on board to help those less privileged in the lead-up to Christmas.
The Bendigo Bank, in partnership with the Devon Meadows Cricket Club, will collect donations of non-perishable food items to donate to the Cranbourne Food Truck.
Michael Floyd from the cricket club said this was the first time they had taken donations in the lead-up to Christmas, and were prompted to do so by the bank that also sponsored the club.
“We have done various charity things in the past, but this is the first time we’ve been involved with this,” he said.
It’s also a first for the bank, and Senior Customer Service officer Sandy Mann said the food truck came and set up in their community corner this year and this prompted staff to help out the worthy cause.
The community corner gives local businesses the chance to showcase what they are about.
“We have decided to do some sort of Christmas appeal,” Ms Mann said.
The Cranbourne food truck is organised by the United Church of Cranbourne and Bendigo Bank members have also started to volunteer.
The food truck provides hot meals to locals four nights a week.
Mr Floyd from the Devon Meadows Cricket Club said the groups would hand over their donations to the food truck on 15 December.
