Something in the air

By Kelly Yates
LYNDHURST Secondary College students took over the airwaves at the local radio station last Monday as they hosted a one-hour live radio program.
The outing at 3SER-fm Casey radio was part of the school’s VCAL program which focuses on the practical side of learning.
Senior teaching and learning leader at Lyndhurst Secondary College Jeff McMillin said the VCAL program was a great way of learning.
“The students get the opportunity to go on several excursions and the structure is really hands on and teaches them life experiences,” he said.
Mr McMillin said the students were nervous about going on live radio.
Each student took to the microphone during their Anzac Day themed program and spoke about different aspects of the war.
One of the students, Bianca Van Den Boogaard, 17, said she enjoyed being a first time presenter on the radio.
