Walk safe with top cop

CASEY students have the opportunity to walk to school with Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon and win an entire range of LEGO by logging on to the Victoria Police Kids’ website before Thursday 24 April.
Victoria Police has launched the online competition in a bid to encourage local kids to learn about how to be safe while playing, walking to school, crossing the road and using the internet. The winner of the competition, which will be judged by Ms Nixon, will get to walk to school with the Chief Commissioner on Walk Safe to School Day, and will also be presented with the new LEGO City Police range.
Launched in October last year, the kids’ website has had more than 120,000 visits from children, parents and teachers.
Casey youth resource officers, Senior Constable Brett Owen and Dave Smith visited Coral Park Primary School in Hampton Park on Tuesday to encourage students to enter the competition. “As young Victorians become internet savvy the website is a perfect way to communicate to young people and provide information in an easy to use and accessible way,” Sen Const Owen said.
“Casey has such a high youth population and it is important that we engage with young people from an early age and increase their familiarity with police, the law and their own personal safety.”
The online competition is available to all young Victorians aged five to 12 and entry forms can be downloaded by logging on to www.police .vic.gov.au/kids. All answers can be found on the website.
