Badges of honour

By Kelly Yates
KILBERRY Primary School presented its 2008 school leaders with their badges on 11 March during a school assembly.
Captain Eric Wiekmann from Christians Helping in Primary Schools, (CHIPS) presented the badges to the new school captains, Chelsea Wall and Braden Cosgrave and the vice captains, Amanda Bailey and Gomiya Gajanayaka.
School captain Braden said one of his roles as school captain was to make everyone feel safe while at school.
Fellow school captain Chelsea said it was an honour to be elected as a school captain.
“I’ve always wanted to be a school captain,” she said.
Vice captain Gomiya said he wanted to help build more playgrounds in the school.
“We need more playgrounds so we can have more fun,” he said.
While fellow vice-captain Amanda said she enjoyed helping both the students and teachers at Kilberry Primary School.
“If some one is crying or alone, we as school leaders can help them,” she said.
“It’s a great feeling to know you have done something good for someone.”
Acting principal of Kilberry Primary School Andrew Groh said some of the jobs of the school leaders included escorting visitors around the school, handing out certificates during assembly and attending leadership programs.
He said the school leaders were an integral part of the school.
“They are role models in their appearance and behaviour,” Mr Groh said.
