Fire hits train services

A FIRE at Cranbourne Railway Station on Monday night caused the cancellation of five morning trains and destroyed valuable computer equipment.
Fire crews were called to the blaze, which started in the roof of the station, about 11pm, and managed to prevent it from engulfing the rest of the station, a Country Fire Authority spokesman said.
Power to the station was temporarily disconnected as the fire tore through the electrical room.
Despite initial fears that the fire would disrupt the 8am rush, a Connex spokesperson said normal services had resumed by 7.30am.
CFA and Connex inspectors were on the scene Tuesday morning to fully assess the damage to the station.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
