Sports boost all round

THE $6.7 million Marriott Waters Recreation Reserve is now officially open for sports of all sorts.
The reserve, which will be home to Lyndhurst Football Club and the Lynbrook Cricket Club, was opened on 21 August, giving budding sports stars another venue to practise and play.
The reserve includes a large pavilion with four football/cricket change rooms and two netball change rooms, social space, first aid room, office, canteen and public amenities, two floodlit AFL or cricket ovals and two netball courts.
There are also cricket practice nets, a cricket curator’s shed, and an all- abilities playground Livvi’s Place is to be constructed next year.
City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said at the opening that the reserve was an investment in the health and well-being of the community.
“The Marriott Waters Recreation Reserve is unique within the City of Casey,” he said.
“One oval includes a synthetic cricket pitch while the other oval is fitted with a turf wicket table with a synthetic pitch adjacent to the turf wickets.
“Marriott Waters Recreation Reserve has something for everyone. From people having a bit of fun with their mates, right through to the aspiring sporting star, council hopes that this great facility will inspire participation and encourage involvement for all in our community.”
