Riders bound to follow tradition

RIDERS planning to take part in this year’s Riding of the Bounds have until Monday to take advantage of early bird prices.
The 25th annual event will take place on Sunday 26 October at Hillcrest Christian College in Berwick, with riders from across the region expected to take part in the popular event.
City of Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett said this year organisers looked forward to celebrating the 25th event as horse riders gather to honour a tradition which began in Casey’s sister city, Berwick upon Tweed in the UK, more than 400 years ago.
“The ride covers 10 kilometres through some of Casey’s most picturesque countryside, to inspect the boundary between the municipalities of Casey and Cardinia,” he said.
The event will start at Hillcrest Christian College, 500 Soldiers Road, Clyde North, from 8.30am when riders can register and enjoy breakfast before the ride commences at 10.30am.
Riders must register by Friday 17 October as there will be no new registrations accepted at the event.
Early bird registration, which is available until Monday 1 September, is $16 for individuals, $27 for families of up to four riders, and $63.50 for groups, with a minimum of 10 riders.
After Monday, fees will jump to $27 for individuals, $43 for families and $86 for groups.
All riders who participate in the event must wear an Australian-approved equestrian safety helmet.
