ROADWORKS are now complete on the main route through Cranbourne linking the town to Frankston.
The duplication of Sladen Street, the east-west road through the commercial centre, is part of a $21 million project to improve the flow of traffic through Cranbourne.
The road carries more than eight million cars and trucks every year.
The project includes an extra lane in both directions between Scott Street and Hall Road and the construction of bicycle paths.
Traffic signals will be installed at four locations along the route: at the Hall Road intersection, the entrance to Amstel Golf Club and St Peter’s Catholic College, the Cemetery Road and Fairbairn Road intersection, and the Scott Street and Grant Street intersection.
Line marking and clean-up works are still occurring.
Major roads around Cranbourne have been on the list for improvements for years as the town caters for massive population growth.
Concurrent works along Cranbourne-Frankston Road include the $17 million duplication of Berwick-Cranbourne Road between Thompsons Road and Grices Road and the $36.8 million Western Port Highway duplication between Cranbourne-Frankston Road and North Road.
