THE Bendigo Bank is used to giving back to the community.
And the Narre Warren South branch is no different, with it annual Community Grants Night planned for tonight (Thursday) organised in conjunction with its Pearcedale and Tooradin branches.
This year the three bank branches will present their local community groups with more than $65,000 in total after more than 10 years of running a grants program.
“It’s a different amount depending on the group and what they’ve asked for, and a lot of it depends on what’s in our kitty and being able to divide it up,” branch manager Paul Jones said.
“It’s what we’re here for, community banks are put in place in most of these areas because community needs a banking facility and we’re able to share profits with the local community.
“The more we put back into community, the better the local area will be.”
While grant amounts will differ for each group, Narre Warren P-12 College will be receiving a large donation for a special project.
“We’ll be giving about $5500 to Narre Warren P-12 College to a project they’ve got doing with their kids, called Can Eco Shed,” Mr Jones said.
The grants night will be held at Pearcedale Public Hall on Baxter-Tooradin Road, Pearcedale, on Thursday 7 August, kicking off at 6.30pm.
The Narre Warren South Branch is part of a Bendigo Community Bank franchise which includes Pearcedale, Tooradin, Lang Lang and Kooweerup.
