Man slashed by intruder

– Glen Atwell
A CRANBOURNE man had his hand slashed with his own carving knife after confronting an intruder in his backyard on Thursday 3 January.
The 27-year-old, from Endeavour Drive, received cuts to his thumb and fingers after returning home to discover the offender inside his garage at about 7pm.
After noticing the garage door was ajar, the victim went outside to investigate, when the offender ran past him and into the house.
The offender emerged wielding a long carving knife, taken from the victim’s kitchen. The victim then approached the man and had his hand slashed.
The victim had seen the same man, described as being in his late teens to early 20s, wearing a dark coat and a distinct black and white bandanna, repeatedly walking past his property earlier in the day.
Cranbourne Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the offender.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Senior Constable Peter Carroll on 5991 0661.
