Twilight time for carols

CAROLS by Twilight will celebrate its 32nd year as a unique community-based family event this Christmas Eve.
Presented by the Berwick Church of Christ, Carols by Twilight evolved out of the vision and hard work of councillor Rob Wilson and local resident John Marshall.
Beginning in 1975 with an enthusiastic crowd of 200 in Webb Street, then moving to the area now occupied by Casey ARC, the carols are now celebrated by crowds of more than 6000 people at Max Pawsey Reserve in front of Fountain Gate Shopping Centre.
This year the music program is coordinated by Larry Sebastian, an uncle of Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian.
One of the featured artists will be Guy’s brother, Chris, who has appeared with Guy at Carols by Candlelight.
Other artists include local producer-songwriter Daniel Kelaart; Nathaniel Willemse and SLASH, the vibrant teenagers from Berwick Church of Christ. Add to this a mix of community singing of favourite Christmas carols and you are guaranteed to have a great evening.
The evening, which starts at 6.30pm, is geared for families when many gather for a picnic in the park or buy food from vendors.
During this time there will be non-stop children’s entertainment, clowns, face painting and Santa will make an appearance on a CFA truck.
The grand finale of the night is always the spectacular fireworks.
Carols by Twilight formally starts at 8pm with a welcome by Casey mayor Janet Halsall. This free community event is coordinated by the Berwick Church of Christ and is sponsored by the City of Casey and various community businesses.
Disabled parking is accessible from Fountain Drive.
