TOORADIN Primary School students pedalled their hearts out in a recent human-powered vehicle (HPV) event.
A team of 18 excited and enthusiastic students travelled to Maryborough for the annual RACV Energy Breakthrough Challenge.
Students were first required to make a 15-minute speech about why they took part in the event and also took part in a challenge to understand why and how HPVs and pushcarts were designed the way they were.
Their teachers said they put in a fantastic effort, working together as a team and gaining a better understanding about renewable energy and its importance to the ever-changing environment by using pedal power instead of fossil fuel. The HPV team pedalled furiously for about 14 hours over a two-day period.
The pushcart team of nine students competed in an endurance race, obstacle race and sprint.
The HPV event was one of five events that the school has taken part in this year as students continue to try to help the environment.
