Patrol police catch drivers out

NUNAWADING Highway Patrol put the brakes on a number of Casey drivers caught speeding in the early hours of Saturday.
The traffic unit was patrolling the Monash Freeway in Dandenong about 1.30am when officers detected an Audi allegedly travelling at 170km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The driver, a 42-year-old Hampton Park man, is set to receive a penalty notice for speeding and will lose his licence for 12 months.
The officers then saw two Ford Falcon sedans allegedly drag racing on the Princes Highway in Clayton about 2.30am.
Police believe the vehicles were travelling at 147km/h in an 80km/h zone.
The drivers of the vehicles, both 20-year-old men from Hampton Park, are expected to be charged on summons with speeding and drag racing offences.
One of the vehicles was impounded on the spot, while the other one is set to be impounded at a later date.
The drivers were three of the five who were caught by police on patrol in the south-east that morning.
