Painter robbed three times

A PAINTER received a triple whammy when his wallet was stolen from a building site in Hampton Park last week.
A 37-year-old Doveton man was working as a painter at the site and left his wallet on the kitchen bench inside the property.
Between 10am and 11.30am on Thursday 29 November, the black leather wallet, containing $600 cash, a Medicare card, driver’s licence, credit cards and National Bank EFTPOS card, was stolen.
The man did not notice until 7pm that the wallet was missing.
When he reported his cards stolen the next day he was told the EFTPOS card had been used twice just before 11.45am on the Thursday at the Westpac ATM in Hampton Park and $500 had been withdrawn each time.
The man had kept his personal identification number (PIN) on the original bank document stored in his wallet.
Senior Sergeant Bernie Kaminski from Cranbourne CIU said it was important that people not leave their PIN in their wallet with the card.
He also urged people to report their missing cards straightaway, even if it meant calling the bank’s after hours number.
People who leave their PIN with their card will not be covered by the bank.
Anyone with information about the incident can call Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661.
