Taser ends armed siege

A MAN has been charged following a siege in Narre Warren South on the weekend during which he allegedly made threats to kill police.
Officers were called to a house in Sugar Gum Court about 3am on Saturday morning following an alleged domestic violence situation.
Police cordoned off the area after reports that an armed, intoxicated man was inside.
A woman, who was also inside the house, came out when police arrived and the man followed carrying a baton.
Police said the man then allegedly made threats to kill the police officers before retreating back inside.
The Critical Incident Response Team was called and tried to negotiate with the 47-year-old man.
The siege went on for more than an hour during which time the man allegedly threatened to release two Rottweiler dogs on police and said he had a firearm.
The man came out of the house with the baton again and police were able to Taser and arrest him.
The man has been charged and remanded in custody.
