A CRANBOURNE family is rejoicing after its beloved dog was found after being stolen from a local pound.
Jessica Hogan said the family was thrilled to have its dog Karma back but it was bitter sweet because two other stolen dogs were still missing.
Karma was one of three Staffys taken from the lost dogs’ home in Cranbourne just after 11pm on Saturday 3 May.
She was found by dog walkers near Cranbourne-Frankston Road about 6pm on Thursday night and was reunited with Ms Hogan, her partner Lee Suttie and their son Kooper the next day.
Ms Hogan said she didn’t think she would ever see Karma again.
“I was really scared for her because she is such a timid dog,” she said.
“I thought she would be sold for money straight away given how expensive she is and her blue colour.
“I just thought, somebody would pay lots of money for her and we wouldn’t see her again.
“Everyone was telling me she would be used for dog fighting, so that was scary, but she is so timid so would never fight anything.”
Ms Hogan said she hoped the other two dogs would be found.
“I feel bad for them and almost guilty for being so glad we got out dog back,” she said.
“I just keep wondering where they are and what they are going to do to them.
“I really hope they are found safely.”
Police are still seeking to locate the two other stolen dogs – a six-month-old tan and white, male American Staffy mix and black and white female American Staffy pup.
Two men were captured on CCTV looking around the animal shelter for almost an hour and a half, before allegedly stealing three dogs.
The first man was described as Caucasian and aged early to mid-twenties.
He was wearing a dark hoody, blue shorts with white writing, grey sneakers, black socks and a dark-coloured cap.
The second man was wearing a dark hoody, navy track pants with white stripes down the side, sneakers and a dark-coloured cap.
Anyone with any information about the burglary is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
