Golf star on rise

AMSTEL Golf Club may have unearthed a potential pennant star despite its division six season coming to an end at Yering Meadows on Sunday.
The team lost its semi-final to Chirnside Park, four and three, with youngster Jordyn Baker providing the highlight with his impressive six and four victory in the number one slot over Matthew Silk.
In just his third game of pennant, Baker was square with the card through 14 holes with three birdies balancing out a bogey and double-bogey.
George Johnson and David Stephens were others to chalk up wins in a team that pennant manager Kevin Nolan knows will improve with time.
“Jordyn, Jack Hitchcock and our Colts captain Takunda Moyo are three young guns that will be the backbone of our team going forward,” Nolan said.
“Jordyn’s performance was fantastic and even the opposition were congratulating him on such an outstanding effort.”
Settlers Run beat Sandhurst to progress to the final in two weeks’ time against Chirnside Park at Green Acres Golf Club.
