POLICE have urged a man who attempted to rob a busy Hampton Park bank last week to hand himself in.
Police said the man entered the Commonwealth Bank about 4.50pm on Friday 2 May and approached one of the assistants behind the counter.
She advised him to join the line, which he did.
Police said the man again approached the counter, reached through the security screen with a plastic bag in his hand and demanded that a staff member counting cash at the time put the money in the bag.
When she retreated with the money, the man ran off.
Police believe the man came to the same bank earlier that day, so they have lots of CCTV footage of him.
He was described as being in his mid to late 20s, about 180cm tall, medium build, short, light brown hair and was wearing a fluoro orange, long-sleeved top.
Casey CIU Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Garry Kear urged the man to hand himself in given he was very identifiable in the footage they have of him.
“There is a number of surveillance footage of him, so it is in his best interest to come in early,” he said.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
