Young tennis players on their toes

THE first tennis competition specifically tailored for the 10-and-under age group has been successfully launched in the City of Casey.
Tennis Australia’s popular Hot Shots tennis program uses modified equipment so that the younger age group can enjoy the game, and has now been turned into a participation based competition.
“The kids love it and the parents are on the court encouraging and taking part,” said Casey Hot Shots League co-ordinator Sandi Dawson.
Hot Shot Leagues involve timed matches with shorter sets, and a shorter travel time between events – making the sport more attractive for participants and parents.
The final round of the Casey League, and its presentations, was played at the Doveton Tennis Club with the Fountain Gate Tennis Club winning both the Orange Ball and Green Ball sections. To register for Hot Shot leagues, contact local tennis clubs, Sandi Dawson on 0422 848 356 or email play@minitennisworld.com.au.
