Pet owners urged to pay up

CASEY council is reminding pet owners to ensure their furry friends are registered by the Thursday 10 April due date.
Pet registration is due annually on 10 April and animal owners are reminded to note that date in their diaries.
City of Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett said under state legislation any dog or cat which was three months of age or older needed to be registered with the council where they reside.
“Registration fees help provide a wide range of important pet-related services within the City of Casey,” he said.
“One of these features is council’s Lost Pets Register, an online service which helps to reunite lost pets with their owners.
“I encourage everyone to make the most of this valuable tool if they are in the unfortunate situation of having their pet go missing.”
City of Casey manager community safety Caroline Bell said the council had issued animal registration renewal notices to owners of all registered dogs and cats in the municipality.
“It is each pet owner’s responsibility to ensure their dog or cat is registered with council and registration is paid each year,” she said.
“Paying your registration has never been easier with BPAY now a permanent payment option and all the details to allow you to pay this way are included on your renewal notice.
“It is important to point out that your pet must be microchipped before being registered with council and this can be carried out by your local vet.
“If you are a pet owner and you haven’t received your animal registration renewal notice yet, please contact council on 9705 5200.”
