Business rego essential

THE City of Casey is cracking down on local businesses who have failed to register with the council’s Environmental Health Unit.
The council has issued a reminder to business owners to renew their business registrations with Casey annually and those who fail to comply with legislation will face infringements or prosecution.
City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said all food, health and beauty premises operating in Casey were required to be registered with the Environmental Health Unit.
“Registration of businesses is essential in maintaining clean and safe working environments to minimise the risk of food or water borne illnesses,” he said.
“Registration renewals for 2013-14 saw the lowest number of businesses failing to renew their registration – a testament to commitment of business owners and the hard work of council’s team.
“With over 1000 businesses requiring registration each year, only eight infringement notices were issued to businesses which failed to renew their registration this year.
“Council is pleased with the high level of compliance by Casey business owners in ensuring their business registration remains current.”
Infringement notices can range from $722 for an individual up to $1444 for a business.
