Panel will map out career path

LOCAL businesses have banded together to help students’ career paths.
Lyndhurst Secondary College’s Industry Advisory Panel was announced recently with business representatives offering their support.
Principal Steve Phillips welcomed the members of the panel to the inaugural meeting.
Mr Phillips said the focus of the panel was to assist with the development of students’ understanding of the wide range of career options available in the world of work so they could make more informed choices regarding their future careers.
Organisations making up the founding members of the panel include the Australian Rail Manufacturers and Actco-Pickering Metal Industries, Beacon Foundation, Commonwealth Bank Cranbourne branch, Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce, Cranbourne Community Plan (City of Casey), Lyndhurst Sand Plant, Southport Engineering Pty Ltd, and South East Local Learning and Employment Network (SELLEN).
“This type of panel is a positive new concept whereby the college can develop a meaningful relationship with members of local industry for the mutual benefit of students, the college and industry,” Mr Phillips said.
He extended an invitation to any local businesses that wanted to find out more or become involved.
