THERE’S no need for an excuse to have a cocktail party but a Cranbourne woman will get the martini glasses clinking later this month in a bid to raise money for The Cancer Council.
Lisa Swoboda is having a Girls Night In cocktail party to help get some funds together for cancer research and support programs for women.
“Cancer is such a big thing. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by it whether directly or indirectly,” she said.
Mrs Swoboda first organised a Girls Night In event last year with just a few of her friends.
She said it was such a great success that she decided to make this year’s event bigger and better with the Amstel Golf Club booked for the massive function.
“I don’t work at the moment. I stay at home with my 19-month-old daughter,” she said.
“I thought while I’m at home with her I could do this and raise money for charity.”
She has already had numerous donations including a five-night holiday to Merimbula to be raffled on the night.
There will also be door prizes, a mini auction and a gift bag for everyone who attends.
Musical duo The Incident have also donated their time for night.
Mrs Swoboda said eventually she would like to get into event management and she was already planning other events to raise funds for other charities.
The event for women aged 18 and over only will start at 7.30pm on Saturday, 27 October and run until 12.30am.
All proceeds raised from the night are channelled into women’s cancer projects that are most needed in each state such as research, prevention, advocacy, information and support programs aimed at reducing the impact of cancer.
The Amstel Golf Club is at 1000 Frankston-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne.
Tickets are $30 a person and must be purchased and paid for by 13 October. Tickets cannot be bought on the night.
The ticket includes one free cocktail on arrival, finger food, tea and coffee.
For information and bookings call Lisa on 5995 5598.
