Sneak a peek at sports complex

LOCALS will be given a sneak preview of Cranbourne East’s multimilliondollar sporting development Casey Fields at an open day on Saturday, 29 October.
Residents can take their first glimpse of the progress at the 70hectare BerwickCranbourne Road site, which is hailed as the premier sport and recreation facility in Melbourne’s South East.
Casey CEO Mike Tyler said the open day would provide the first opportunity for the community to see the development first hand, ahead of the official opening in April.
“Casey Fields has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past 18 months and what used to be farmland is now taking shape with the construction of pavilions, sports grounds and courts, walking trails and passive leisure areas,” he said.
Visitors to the open day can take a guided bus tour of the site and participate in a number of sporting activities by local and state sporting clubs and associations.
“Landscaping work has begun on site to transform Casey Fields into a lush passive recreational area, complete with wetland planting and walking paths around the lake system,” Mr Tyler said.
“Casey Fields will be home to a Premier cricket side, the CaseySouth Melbourne Cricket Club, a VFL team, the Casey Scorpions, and many local sporting and recreation clubs including Cranbourne Cricket Club, Cranbourne Football and Netball Club and Devon Meadows Junior Football Club,” Mr Tyler said. Access to the Casey Fields open day on 29 October from 11am to 3pm is by free shuttle bus only, departing from the Casey Indoor Leisure Complex. Bookings are essential.
For more information or to book a guided bus tour phone the City of Casey on 9705 5200.
